Cases

These are but a few examples of the many cases where I believe homeopathy has helped. I am not allowed by the Advertising Standards Authority to imply that homeopathic treatment can help any specific medical conditions.

Kizzy the Cat - Gingivitis

My own cat, Kizzy, had terrible problems with viral gingivitis. It was so bad that I had extracted all her teeth, a procedure that can be used when other treatments fail to ease it, and antibiotics and anti-inflammatory treatment was having very little effect and causing her great distress trying to administer them with her mouth as sore as it was. She was young when she contracted it but I was beginning to feel that euthanasia might be the only option to end her suffering. I tried her on two homeopathic remedies which I hoped would suit her as a whole but with no result. After the 3rd remedy I tried the change was dramatic. The redness, swelling and black discharge around her mouth reduced steadily and she was soon able to eat without pain again. She had one further dosage of the same remedy when it started to flare up slightly and she remained pain-free with her mouth for the rest of her life without any further antibiotics or anti-inflammatory treatment.

Billy the Goat - Laminitis

Another of my animals, Billy, an Anglo-nubian goat, developed laminitis – an inflammation of the hooves. He was in so much pain with his feet that he was paddling them continually and didn't know what to do with himself. Anti-inflammatory pain-killing treatment appeared to give him no relief. I had only just started to use homeopathic remedies at this time and so with little confidence picked a remedy and gave him a tablet. It was a complete surprise and delight when I went back to see him a few hours later and he was back to normal, grazing contentedly on the bushes. He had no further problems.

Raggie the Rabbit - Concussion

I had a rabbit brought in to see me who had been found in her hutch motionless and unresponsive. She lay on the consulting room table, not moving a muscle, not even twitching her nose. We deduced that she must have leapt up and knocked her head on the roof of her hutch and was in a concussed, semi-comatose state. I pushed an arnica tablet into the side of her mouth. Within a few seconds her nose began to twitch and she lifted her head and looked around the consulting room. I gave her owner some more tablets to administer over the next few hours and she made a full and rapid recovery.

Holly the Labrador - A Complicated Hypothyroid Case

A black Labrador bitch, Holly, had been losing weight dramatically, her skin was terrible – flaking excessively and the coat was dull and falling out, so that she had become quite bald in several places. She was also very lethargic and looked and acted like a dog of about 14 years although she was only 8. Blood samples revealed that her thyroid was under-active and despite supplementation with thyroid hormones she continued to lose weight. An appointment was made for referral to the vet school in Bristol but it had to be delayed for a few weeks until the thyroid hormone supplement was out of her system. We decided to try and help her homeopathically in the meantime but within 2 weeks of giving her a remedy her owner brought her back "complaining" that she was acting like a hooligan and was getting too fat. Her coat had improved and she was already growing back over the bald areas. The referral to Bristol was cancelled because there were really no problems for them to investigate any more.

Mam's Boy the Persian Cat - Bald & Failing to Grow

A Persian kitten, "Mam's Boy", was failing to grow, had lost almost all his hair and was a very poor eater. His breeder had previously had a kitten with the same symptoms which had been referred to Bristol University and had been diagnosed with a liver shunt and had ended up being put to sleep at a year old. Blood samples of Mam's Boy appeared to be indicating the same condition. His breeder felt that it would not be fair to put him through a lot of rigorous investigations only to put him to sleep at the end of it. We decided to try and help with homeopathy as this would not cause him any distress. We could not believe the change in him within a few days. His appetite improved at once and he soon started to grow and in no time caught up in size with the other kittens of his age who had been 2 or 3 times his size. His coat regrew and in fact was luxurious. Having not eaten well and then grown very fast his front legs were quite rickety. After a different remedy his legs soon straightened out. He had a setback with his appetite when he was changing his teeth but after a repeat of the first remedy he was soon back on track. He is now a very happy, healthy and large adult cat with a beautiful coat.

Tess the Staffordshire Bull Terrier - Behavioural Problems

A Staffordshire bull terrier bitch had been so badly frightened by fireworks that her owners described her as miserable, living on her nerves. She had become destructive in the house and had started to snap at the children's friends. Her owner couldn't stand to see her suffering any longer and brought her in to be put to sleep. When told about the possibility of using homeopathy to help her, without much hope she agreed to give it a try, as she was breaking her heart at the thought of losing her. She was back in the following week, wreathed in smiles to have a booster for the dog, unable to believe the change after 3 little tablets. She was back to her old happy self.

Jaffa the Cat - Miliary Eczema

A cat who had been suffering for years with miliary eczema and been receiving injections to ease it, was never a happy cat because of the continued discomfort in his skin. Within a few days of receiving a homeopathic remedy he became a happy cat again and his rash gradually disappeared.
